History

The stud started in 1980 with a birthday present from my partner at the time Alan Batsford ,a beautiful black mare called Uplands Dawn who produced a giant of a colt Navestock Lucifer ( 'still private driving up to last season), On a chance visit with our hackney breeder friend John Chicken to deliver his HOY champion Stapleford Duke to the stables of Brian and Georgina Turner we came across a lone welsh cob in a yard full of Hackneys, who was an unknown 3 year old colt called Nebo Prince -the most perfect speciment of a cob I had ever seen. After much haggling over a pint or two we eventually purchased him for £890, within a few months we took him to his first show at Towerlands that spring of 1984 where the late Dick Swain said to Alan "If you could only run that horse I'd put you first" Alas,us both being totally novice were awarded second out of 24 stallions but we soon realised we had something special in our ownership

We sent him to Wales into the capable hands of Jimmy Dykes who had a very successful season with him, and then to Steve Everitt who put him to stud and had endless showing success for us in England and Wales. Steve was one of the very few privileged people whom Prince regarded as a mate therefore he would never let you down if you were lucky enough to have that status in his life. As an 8 year old I brought him home to ride and drive and had a bit of success in the Driving ring as well as a few combined driving trails.David Smith from Broughton showed him for me in his latter years with much success along with many of his bay daughters with whom we gained many Progeny class wins . Prince enjoyed his work and spent everyday in the winters when not with his mares being ridden by his best ever friend my chef Angela who has his stunning son Navestock Welsh Flyer.

He left us an abundance of fabulous stock whom took on his good looks, courage and willing personality and although I breed very few cobs now that he's gone I still take get pleasure in seeing his spirit alive due to the dedicated breeders who believed in him and still carry on his bloodlines.  JS
